The Firm is honored to announce that Steven H. Polowitz, Esq. is now Senior Counsel.

Mr. Polowitz brings 40 years of experience to the firm, with a practice that is largely focused in the commercial real estate, charter school, not-for-profit and community/affordable housing development related areas.

Throughout his career, Mr. Polowitz has represented a variety of builders, developers, owners/landlords, property management and not-for-profit community development clients, handling multi-million-dollar purchase, loan, sale, tax-deferred exchange and finance transactions involving multi-family, office and multi-use properties and affordable and low-to-moderate-income housing projects. Mr. Polowitz has represented a number of federally tax-exempt, not-for-profit community development corporations and charter schools and is intimately familiar with not-for-profit corporation law and governance as well as charter school law and regulations.

As a founder and former charter school Board chair, Mr. Polowitz provides a unique and valuable background to charter school Boards and administrators, having counseled charter schools throughout their entire life cycles from application to start-up and, in some cases, through dissolution. He has worked with both New York State authorizers and the Charter School Office of the New York State Education Department.
