‘Flurry’ of sex abuse suits set to be filed in NY, including by Trump rape accuser E. Jean Carroll

As the Adult Survivors Act goes into effect, predictions are that there will be a large influx of sex abuse lawsuits filed, including one by E. Jean Carroll accusing Donald Trump of rape. The Adult Survivors Act, signed into law by Governor Kathy Hochul on May 24th, 2022, allows for adult sexual abuse survivors to file suit, even if their cases fall outside of the statute of limitations, during a one-year period opening midnight on Thanksgiving 2022. Lisa Coppola weighs in on the likely impact of the Adult Survivors Act based on her experience representing survivors of sexual abuse.
