ABOUT US
Even though we worked for the big law firms in the past, we still get our own coffee in the morning. We’re always ready to take your legal matter in front of a judge, but we have a special knack for working things out with the other side so we don’t have to. We love being on a team that always has our back.

The Coppola Firm

The Coppola Firm is a proudly woman-owned law firm. We are fierce, compassionate attorneys who conquer legal challenges and deliver exceptional results to our clients in an efficient and no-nonsense fashion. We were founded in 2015 by Lisa Coppola, who has been practicing law in New York and federal courts for over 30 years. Joined by her partner David Goodman in 2023, the team at The Coppola Firm has grown from a one-person office in 2015 to over two dozen team members in its first half-decade. The reason for that growth is as simple as it is compelling: we work doggedly to help our clients and they, in turn, refer their colleagues, friends, and families to us when they are in need.

We have a full-service law practice that can manage virtually all of our clients’ legal needs.  Our team focuses on getting top-dollar results for individuals who have been catastrophically injured, getting the largest settlement and verdicts in wrongful termination cases, counseling businesses on how to be compliant with the law, and helping businesses start up and succeed. Our practice includes personal injury, employment and labor guidance, counseling, and training for employers and employees, business advice, counseling and litigation, acquisitions and sales of businesses, commercial real estate transactions, new business formations, representation of charter schools, and helping individuals with end-of-life planning. In short, we help people from the beginning of their ventures through the entire life cycle.

Many of our attorneys own other businesses as well as practice law. So we are uniquely positioned to understand the challenges of and advocate for small and medium-sized businesses. We support clients in avoiding risk, whether in their contracts or their workforce. We train and guide companies across the United States, routinely providing employment-related seminars and executive coaching, and skills building. We are committed to offering convenient and compliant sexual harassment prevention and other workplace-related training for businesses across the country.

As individuals, we care about our local and global communities. For example, Lisa is the Immediate Past Chair of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) based in Washington, D.C. and volunteers on the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Regulatory Fairness Board for Region II. Dave Goodman is a Director on the Board of the Bar Association of Erie County. The lawyers at the Firm serve on other boards and volunteer for non-profits in Western New York. As a team, we want to give back, from the annual Days of Coppola Firm Giving each December, where we donate to each team member’s chosen charity, to our event sponsorships, and even bowling to raise funds for Lawyers for Learning. At The Coppola Firm, we work to give back.

Core Values

Our team collaboratively created our core values, and they identify how we work, where our priorities lie, and the manner in which we are committed to our clients. Our guiding values are summed up this way:

Honor everyone

Respect them and do what’s right.

Walk in their shoes

Listen to everyone so that they feel heard. Talk like a regular human being.

Pull the oar

Do your part and encourage others to do theirs.

Be tenacious

Give everything you’ve got.
