New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced that she has reinstated a statewide mask mandate. The mandate becomes effective on Monday, December 13, 2021 and requires masks to be worn in all indoor public places.

If a business has instituted a vaccine mandate, the business is exempted from this new requirement.

Noncompliant businesses will face penalties of up to $1,000 per violation, which will be enforced by local departments of health.

Gov. Hochul will reassess the necessity of this mandate on January 15, 2022.
