Employers, take notice:  on November 10, 2021, the United States Department of Labor, the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the National Labor Relations Board announced a joint initiative. It’s a virtual dialogue with employers, centered around the importance of anti-retaliation protections for employees exercising their employment-related rights.

The initiative launches today – November 17, 2021.

This virtual dialogue is designed to educate employers about retaliation issues. Retaliation charges have become more common over the past 20 years.  As EEOC Chair Charlotte A. Burrows put it, “we must tackle this urgent problem and help ensure that employers have effective strategies for taking immediate action to stop retaliation.”

Retaliation allegations are taken seriously. Indeed, even when an original claim is not substantiated, an employer still can be found liable for retaliation. That’s why it’s crucial for employers to understand this part of the law and to educate their managers and others about it.

Employers, feel free to reach out to the experienced attorneys at the Coppola Firm with any retaliation-related questions. We’re here to help!
