Recently, the new administration signed two new bills aimed at promoting women’s involvement in science, technology, engineering, and math:  the INSPIRE Women Act and the Promoting Women in Entrepreneurship Act.

The INSPIRE Women Act is designed to promote exposure of girls K-12 to careers in STEM through increased involvement with current and retired NASA professionals.  The new law requires a plan of action be created within the next 90 days.

The Promoting Women in Entrepreneurship Act also intends to encourage more women to pursue a career in STEM.  It authorizes the National Science Foundation to fund grants supporting female STEM graduates and their small businesses.

Only time will tell whether these new laws are effective at supporting more women in STEM.
